Background

Charlotte E. James received her Bachelor of Arts in History from San Diego State University in 2009. In 2008, she studied abroad at the University of Oxford in Oxford, England with focus in Political Science and British common law under the tutelage of Sir David Yardley.  She then obtained her Juris Doctor degree from California Western School of Law in 2015.  During law school, she received an Academic Achievement Award in legal writing, and was accepted to the California Innocence Project law student clinic, where she assisted in investigating wrongful convictions.  In the Summer of 2013, Charlotte studied international comparative law at the Heidelberg Center for Latin American Studies in Santiago, Chile. She further participated in an externship with the Chilean government at the Ministry of Justice in Santiago, Chile presenting American civil procedure and civil theory for purposes of comparing same to Chile’s civil legal system.  She was admitted to the California State Bar in January of 2016.

Charlotte joined Blumenthal Nordrehaug Bhowmik De Blouw LLP after working for a Plaintiff’s firm, where her practice focused on civil litigation, and then a nationwide defense firm, where her practice focused on employment litigation.  She now represents individuals and large classes of employees in wage and hour class actions.
